"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I (Jesus) have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." (John 10:10)

What is the meaning of life? Do you not have life? When Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life." It means something dead in us. Let us see what that is. Our whole being is made up of three parts, soul, mind and body. Body is that which we see and it seems every thing is OK, it is alive. But there is another thing inside every person that is soul. God said to Adam in Genesis 2:17, "but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die." People think that Adam and Eve did sin, but nothing happened. They lived many more years after that. Yes they lived physically, but they were dead spiritually. They died instantaneously in their soul as they disobeyed the commandment of God. It was a spiritual death not physical. Their relationship with God broke, so that they could no longer have fellowship with God.

Yes, Our soul is dead because of sin. That’s why Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." Jesus came to this world to give us not only life but abundant life - a life full of joy, peace and happiness. He came to this world and shed His precious blood to repair the broken link between mankind and God, the link that was broken because of our sins. He came to this world to give life to our lifeless souls. His precious blood is available today for the remission of our sins. If we humble ourselves and repent from our sins, He will surely cleanse us and give us abundant life that can not be described by words.

I have seen many people having every thing in their lives, but no smile on their faces. They are always filled with worry, anxiety and fear. If you go and talk to that type of people for a few moments, you will also be filled with worry. If you are worried all the time how can you enjoy life? If you have any sickness, how can you live without worry or lead a happy life? I have even seen many who if they have little headache, they will say, "It seems I have tumor in my brain… will I die?" God never wants you to be in that miserable state. That’s why Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."

Are you in this miserable state today? Look to Jesus. He wants to give you a worry free life, a happy and healthy life. Yes, and it is only possible with Jesus.

Spiritual Journey-How does it begin

By Sheela Isaac

You may be wondering what does it mean by spiritual journey?

Yes it is the real journey without which no man can reach heaven. You may be thinking, "I am already in a Christian family. Why should I need it. I am already having it. I have been hearing about Lord Jesus, about Bible from my childhood and so on.... But Bible says very clearly in Mathew 7:21-23, "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!"
Yes many are there who think that they know Lord Jesus but alas they do not know Him. They heard about Him, they read about Him many times, but still they are away from Him.
I heard one story once. Some people were traveling in ship. Suddenly they were caught up in the middle of big storm and they were not able to reach the shore. They were struggling hard to get out of it but they lost their way. And days passed and there food and water were exhausted. Finally when rescue team reached nearby they cried out we are dying due to thirst, we do not have water to drink. Please give some water first. They were surprised and said "dip your bucket in sea and you will have it" Actually they thought that the sea water may be salty to drink. But the location where they were caught up was the mouth of Amazon River where fresh water extended up to 200 miles in to the sea. The same situation is here the great salvation is available for everybody, but many do not receive it because they are ignorant of it. Many think, that "I am in a Christian family, I am going to Church regularly, I am taking active part in Church, I am doing this, this and that....so I am a very spiritual or pious person".

No sir!!! It is nothing but social work. You need a new start a spiritual start which can make you eligible to reach heaven. You have been hearing about Jesus for a long time, but that is not enough, you need Jesus Himself. You need Him as your personal Savior, you need Him as your redeemer, you need Him as the Lord of your life. It is not too hard. A simple prayer which comes deep down from heart brings you to that experience. A simple prayer, "Lord I need a place in heaven, I want to get rid of my sins, I want forgiveness of my sins". That's it.....Yea it is so simple isn't it?

Have you ever done this type of prayer in your life? Have you ever realized that you are a sinner and that you need a Savior? Have you ever thought about your life after death? Have you ever seriously considered that eternity is too long a period? Have you ever realized that after death your soul goes to only one place it is either HEAVEN or HELL. Think about it. Where you want to spend your eternity? It is upto you. It is a free choice given by God. God is a good God. He never forces anybody to do something. But He wants to save everybody from hell fire. That's why He did not even spare His only son Jesus, but He sent Him to die for you and me, so that we can come out of our sin and have eternal life in Him.

This is the first step of spiritual journey or a Christian life that a person come to the cross of Calvary, confess his/her sin to the Lord Jesus and receive the free gift of salvation. In John chapter 3 we read about a person called Nicodemus. He was not an ordinary person. He was a Pharisee and a Jew. He was teaching the Jews about laws of God. But one day when he approached Jesus, Lord Jesus said to him? John 3:3, "Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Lord did not say to him "Weldon you are doing a great job. You are teaching God's law to people. So you have a sure place in heaven". No, What the Lord said was "unless one is born again, he can not see the kingdom of God." That is the key to reach heaven. You must come to that salvation or born again experience. Without which no man can reach heaven or see the kingdom of God.

Do you have such experience that you can say for sure, "one day I was born again, one day I've received Christ into my heart as my personal Lord and Savior?" Can you say that for sure? If not, it is time to get right with God. It is to know Him personally. It is the time to confess your sins before Him.

Let us pray:

Lord Jesus I heard about you lot of time in my life. Now I do not need to hear about you, but I need you. Please come into my heart, please wash away my sins by thy precious blood shed on Calvary's Cross. Today I receive you as my Lord, today I receive you as my savior. Lord please accept me as your child. Forgive my sins. From now on you are my Lord, you are my everything. I pray in Jesus Precious name. Amen.

David's Mighty Men

By Bro. John Drake

2 Samuel 23:13-17

It's interesting to read the history and wonderful stories that our God, by His Spirit, caused to be written for us in the old covenant. But far more importantly is the fact that hidden within those stories is information and admonishments vital for this end time generation. (1 Cor.10:11) Even the most basic truths of the New Covenant will take on deeper meanings as the Word of God is opened to us by His Spirit. It is as Moses said in Deu. 29:29, "The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law." After Moses spoke that for the children of Israel's sake and also for our sake, he carried them down through time in the 30th chapter to the New Covenant commandment and our day, "today" when "the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it." (30:vs.14 - Rom.10:8)

These things being true, let's explore what God has hidden within the story of David's mighty men for pastors today; for within verses 13-17 of 2 Samuel chapter 23, God truly has a message for those He has established as shepherds over His people in this hour. In these verses we will examine even another reason why David was a man after God's own heart.

The account begins by saying, "Then three of the thirty chief men went down at harvest time and came to David at the cave of Adullam." Pastor, do you believe we are at the time of harvest as we enter the new millennium? Voices everywhere in the body of Christ are echoing, "Get ready, it's time!" And even for the last few years, the harvest is being reaped in various places around the world. So then, the words of this story ought to be more significant to those over God's flocks today than ever before. I believe the responsibility of men and women in positions of leadership at harvest time is greater than at other times, don't you? For that reason, we see the Lord sending three of the chief men down to help David "at harvest time."

Jesus has always been the mighty Word of God, but it was in the New Covenant that He said, "The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." (John 6:63) Therefore, it is the spiritual message the Holy Spirit has for us that will bring life to our understanding. Since that word is true, then who might the "chief men" be in the spirit today? Would they not be "persons" (for in the spirit the New Covenant tells us we are neither male nor female) who first of all are dedicated to serve. They would not only be well trained, but totally sold out to the battle and to winning. Even as the story shows in the natural, so it is in the spiritual that these warriors are definitely not afraid of the enemy. Satan is someone to gain triumphant over, not cringe in fear and run away from. In other words, they know their God and have put on His spiritual armor. In addition, they are dedicated to God's David's today (those whom God has appointed to leadership) and confident that the Lord has established these pastors in their leadership roles. Notice that David did not call for these men, but God sent them to David at the cave of Adullam. They have a commission and ministry from the Lord, to pastors. I believe they are watchmen and prophets whom God is sending to help anointed pastors in the last days. Second Samuel 23:1 calls David, "the anointed of the God of Jacob". As mentioned previously, the assignment and warfare of these mighty men is not in the physical realm but in the spiritual; and the reason they are "mighty" has nothing to do with them, but has to do with the mighty One who is empowering them to do the work He has called them to do. Through their ministries (and others), the anointed leaders in the body of Christ will be able, as never before, to edify the body of Christ until a beautiful bride will stand up and go forth in the earth. And one of the many things she will do will be to overcome Satan by the blood of the Lamb and the word of her testimony. (Rev.12:11) We will plainly see in the story in Samuel, a confirmation of these things. Since it is the Spirit who gives life and the flesh profits nothing, it will be through spiritual words that God will prepare His Son's bride. The important thing for each of us today is that we stay in our place and be faithful to the work the Spirit has appointed us to do.

In verse fourteen we see where David was in the stronghold and the enemy was then in Bethlehem. All indications pointed to the fact that David was safe enough in the stronghold the same as the pastors today and their flocks are secure in the churches. But like many anointed pastors today, David became thirsty for the fresh water that he knew was available from the well of Bethlehem. The name Bethlehem, means "house of bread". It was so named through the Spirit of God because prophesy foretold it would be the point of origin or "birth place" of the "bread of life" that was sent from heaven. (John 6:48-50) It was and is in this "birthing place" that God has a well of water that will refresh the David's of our day. That is the meaning and reason the enemy keeps a garrison in Bethlehem, to prevent the army of God from getting the refreshing water that comes from that well. The Holy Spirit is the person who releases the fresh water from the well of Bethlehem to those who break through to get it. David could have himself broken through to get this water, but for the fact that he was busy tending to the needs and situations of his army (flock) in the stronghold. So then, the water from the well of Bethlehem is referring, in the spirit, to words of revelation knowledge and deeper understanding coming forth from the throne of God.

Do you remember the words "Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end." (Dan. 12:9) Those words were spoken by one clothed in linen, who was above (over) the waters of the river. He went on to say that "many would be purified, made white, and refined (Read Malachi 3:1-3 if you want to see the next coming of Jesus Christ), but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand". Our New Covenant confirms that statement where it says, "the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (1 Cor.2:14)

Pastor, we are about to have the words of the book opened to our generation like never before. Many of the saints today are already thirsting for that "pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb." (Rev.22:1)

So then, God has appointed a tithe of His called watchmen and prophets to break through the enemy's defensives to receive pure refreshing water from above and deliver that water to thirsty pastors today. And when those leaders see that it is good (through prayer and meditation), they are not to keep it for themselves, but the Father wants them to pour it out upon the thirsty ground (the souls under their canopy of leadership). Some will speak it forth, others will write it and still others both, but however the Holy Spirit leads, be humble and obedient to obey and God will give you success. Amen
