Ancient Secrets of Prosperity -3

By Sherly Isaac

Joseph had been sold in slavery. He had been taken to a new land which he did not know. The circumstance through which he had to pass was not favorable for him. As a slave he had no voice and no freedom but whatever his master commanded, he had to do at any cost without questioning why? You can imagine how impossible it was for him to excel or to come out of his terrible situation.

But we read of a completely different story of his success in Genesis 39th chapter. He was taken down to Egypt and one of the officers of Pharaoh bought him. Bible tells us that though he came as a slave, he became a successful person while still living in slavery as we read in Gen 39:1-2, Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt. And Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had taken him down there. The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

The reason of his success was that he walked in the ways of God and he pleased God so that God was with him and blessed him. Because God exalted him, even his Egyptian master could understand that the Lord made all that Joseph did to prosper in his hand and so all that the Egyptian master had, he put into Joseph's hand. But what happened to this successful man? Soon he was thrown into prison for no reason. But when he was put in prison God was with Joseph and God gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. We read in Gen 39:22-23, "And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners who were in the prison; whatever they did there, it was his doing. The keeper of the prison did not look into anything that was under Joseph's authority, because the LORD was with him; and whatever he did, the LORD made it prosper."

If we walk in the ways of God, if we give first place to God, He will exalt us and make us prosperous. No matter where you are, no matter what your situation may be, still God can exalt you and make you successful. If you just look to Him and if you walk with Him, He will make you prosperous.

Despite all odds Joseph became the highest officer in Egypt next to the king. In a country where there was absolutely no chance of becoming anything except to cry for his bad luck and bleak future. But because Joseph walked with God, He exalted him and brought him out of his slavery.

The same God who exalted Joseph, can do the same for you. No matter what you are going through, no matter what your situation could be, He can change it for you and will make a way where there is no way.

Hope for the Hopeless - Part 3

By Sherly Isaac

In the book of Genesis 21st chapter we read about a woman named Hagar. Her husband had just kicked her out of her home. She and her son were wandering in the wilderness of Beersheba not knowing what to do, where to go and from where their help could come. When they were wandering in the wilderness of Beersheba, they realized that the water which they had brought with them was used up.

Then Hagar put her son under a shrub and sat opposite him at a distance so that she had not to see her son dying. And she lifted her voice and wept. Her as well as her son's future appeared to be bleak. First she lost her husband and her home. Now they were facing certain death. She might have looked around and seen nothing except hot sand filled desert. There was no one to help them. Who would hear her cry where there was no one? She was destitute, hopeless and helpless. But when she was crying, God heard the cry of Hagar and her son from heaven and came for their rescue. He sent an angel and the angel of God called her from heaven and said in Gen 21:17, "What ails you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is."

The angel of the Lord also told her that God will make her son a big nation. Then he showed her a well from where she could draw water and drink herself and give her son to drink. The almighty God turned her situation around in a split second. Her hopeless and helpless situation was gone and she found new hope and new life.

Yes, my friend, there is a God who hears our cry and answers us from heaven. Are you going through tough times, have you lost all your hope today? Do you think that no matter what, you will never have hopeful situation again? Look to Jesus, He can help you. He can turn your situation around. He can give you new hope and new future. What He did for Hagar, He will do for you.

Jesus came down in this world to give us new hope and new life. He shed His precious blood on the cruel cross so that He could redeem us from our sins and to give us a holy life. He took all our sins upon Him on the cross and died in behalf of us so that we could have a better future and at the end eternal life. If you have not yet found that blessed hope then you need to pray this simple prayer: Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. Please forgive and forget all my sins and come into my life. Today I accept you as my Lord and Savior. Turn my hopeless and helpless situation around. Thank you Jesus for hearing my prayer and giving me a new life. I give you all the glory and I pray this prayer in the mighty and unfailing name of Jesus. Amen.
