Recently there was an explosion in one oil rig in the southern parts of USA. Because of that millions of gallons of oil leaked and now it is threatening the seafood industry of cost lines of at least four states. A few days back, there was an eruption of a volcano in Iceland and earthquakes in many different parts of the world. What is going on in this world? Does it not make us nervous and worried thinking what would happen to us?
Bible tells us in Isa 26:3, "You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You."
If we trust Him and if we put all our hopes in Jesus, He will keep us in perfect peace. No matter what happens around us, no matter what happens in our surrounding situations, we can have His great peace in our lives.
There are birds who make its nest in the cavities of rocks. When she lays her egg and when chicks are in the nest, they live in perfect peace no matter how hard could be the wind that blows, no matter how big the storm that is outside of their nest. They just don't care, because their nest is built in the rock and nothing could make them weary or nervous.
Once Jesus said in (Matt 7:24-27), "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall."
Have you built your house on the solid rock? Have you built your house on Jesus? If not, this is the day to come to Jesus and ask for forgiveness of your sins and accept Him as your Lord and Savior. He will not only give you eternal life but also He will keep you in perfect peace. No matter how terrible things could happen around you, nothing could affect your life. If you want to accept Jesus, please pray this prayer with me: Lord Jesus, I repent from my sins and turn to you. Please forgive and forget all my sins, wash me with your precious blood. Today, I invite you in my life as my personal Lord and Savior. I thank you Jesus for giving me eternal life. I give you all the glory. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
This is the promise of God for those who make Him their Lord and Savior as we read in Psa 91:1-10, "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust." Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;"
God's Protection - Part 5
By Sherly Isaac
Back in India we lived in a place where thieves used to brake in and burglarize homes and offices easily. At times it was very scary but it is very amazing that God protected us from any such incidents. There was a light on our staircase of main entrance. We do not know whether there was loose connection or what, but to our surprise when we woke up in the morning at times we found it was on without even turning the switch on.
Once we fasted the whole day and we were very tired so we went to sleep around 8pm in the evening. About an hour later one of our family friends and his wife came and woke us up. They were surprised to see us sleep so early. We sat and talked. Later I excused myself to prepare tea for them. Because it was a newly constructed kitchen in the upstairs, there was no glass installed in the window at that time. But only iron rods were there. As I opened the door of kitchen and entered inside, I felt a fear in my heart. A thought flashed in my mind, "what if some one is out there?" I was afraid to look towards window so I avoided looking through window. But even if I had tried to look, I could not have seen anything as there was pitch darkness out there.
I took the milk out of the refrigerator and as I walked towards the sink which was near the window, I heard a big noise, as if someone had hurriedly jumped down from the Jackfruit tree just behind the kitchen. I left the milk on the counter, screamed and ran towards the staircase. Hearing my scream, our friends got concerned and asked, "what happened?" My brother replied, "Don't worry, if she sees even some small ant, she screams... so there must be no big deal." I ran down and told what had happened. They went outside and looked and they found that there were fresh broken jackfruit tree leaves and branches scattered here and there. Had our friends not come that night, burglars might have been successful to brake in and steal and harm us. But God did not allow it to happen. He protected us from all harms.
When Israelites were in the wilderness, God protected them from deadly creatures and also from hunger and thirst. We read in Deu 8:15-16, "who led you through that great and terrible wilderness, in which were fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water; who brought water for you out of the flinty rock; who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do you good in the end."
God protected the Israelites through the terrible wilderness where they had many dangers of being bitten by deadly serpents and scorpions or with hunger and thirst but God protected them from all evil. Yes, there is a God who is interested to protect us from all harms, if we just love Him and walk in His ways.
