Once I read one article on predestination and it was very shocking to me because the person who wrote that article based his theory on Romans 8:29 and tried to say that God chooses some people to be saved. Rom 8:29 says, "For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren."
The article said and I quote, "we all have sinned and none of us deserves to be saved. As a result, God would be perfectly just in allowing all of us to spend eternity in hell. However, God chooses to save only some of us. He is not being unfair to those who are not chosen, because they are receiving the punishment what they deserve. God’s choosing to be gracious to some is not unfair to the others. No one deserves anything from God; therefore, no one can object if he does not receive anything from God. An illustration would be a man randomly handing out money to five people in a crowd of twenty. Would the fifteen people who did not receive money be upset? Probably they will be upset. Do they have a right to be upset? No, they do not have. Why? Because they do not owe any money due to them. He simply decided to be gracious to some." (Unquote)
But it is not true! Salvation is not for only some chosen people but for EVERYONE who believe in Jesus. If we read the verse, by itself it does not say anything about getting saved or that salvation is for some chosen people. And if we read the whole chapter, we can see that Paul was addressing those who were already saved and it was his instruction for them to walk in holiness. As we read in Rom 8:1, "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit."
Jesus Himself said in John 5:24, "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life."
Jesus also said in Luke 19:10, "for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."
Jesus again said in John 3:15-17, "that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved."
All these verses are very clear that salvation or eternal life is not for some chosen people but it is for all. Whoever believes in Jesus, can have eternal life. Yes, it is true that God knows in advance with His foreknowledge that who will be accepting Him and who will not. But it is purely a person's choice to choose Jesus or reject Him. As we read in John 1:12-13, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."
You can get salvation, you can get forgiveness of your sins, you can get eternal life through Jesus Christ if you just come to Him and give your life in His hand. If you accept Him as your personal Lord and Savior, He will give you eternal life.
How Terrible Sin Is! But Eternal life through Jesus Christ
By Sherly Isaac
Rom 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Once an officer who had a wonderful family of one wife and a child went on his official tour to a different city. While he was on his tour, he fell in love with a woman and spent one night in sin with her. Later he returned to his own city, but the guilt of his sin was eating him up. He lost his peace of mind and fear griped him thinking, "what if I have AIDS?" A few months later when he had fever he was frightened. He thought, "if I go to a doctor and if he confirms what I fear, everyone will know about my sin and how I will live in this world after that..." He thought that it would be better to die than to go to a doctor. He was in such a fear that he finally committed suicide and ended his life.
Yes, my friend, how terrible sin is? It will one day kill you. But there is good news that we can come out of our sins and can get eternal life. As the Bible tells us in Rom 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Though we have sinned, though we do not deserve to come before the Holy God and get anything from Him yet in His great mercy, He sent His only son to die for us and to take away all our sins on Himself. He was beaten, He was rejected by His own, He was mocked, He went through insults and more than that He went through great agony physically, emotionally and mentally. Finally He gave His life on the cruel cross. He shed His precious blood so that we could be forgiven.
He took our sins on Himself and died so that we could live forever in heaven. All the shame and guilt He went through to make us free from shame and guilt. You can be free from all the burdens of sin and the fear of death just by accepting Jesus in your life.
He said in Rev 3:20, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."
What a privilege to dine with the creator Himself. What a privilege to know Him personally and have fellowship with Him. Will you open the door of your heart so that the King of Glory could come in? Will you invite Him in your life? If your answer is yes, then Bible tells us that those who have accepted Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name."
If you want to accept Him, if you want to invite Jesus in your life please pray this prayer with me:
Lord Jesus I am a sinner. Please forgive and forget all my sins and wash me with your precious blood which was shed on the cruel cross. Please come into my heart. Today I accept you as my Lord and Savior. I promise that from now on I will walk in your ways which is pleasing to you. Thank you Jesus for giving me eternal life and forgiving my sins. I give you all the glory and honor. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
