In my childhood days, my mom used to tell stories. One such story was about an elephant and a dressmaker. The dressmaker would be in his shop everyday sewing dresses for his customers. Everyday morning one elephant used to go to the river nearby to enjoy a bath and the dressmaker's shop was on the way. One day the elephant stopped to have a look at his shop and the dressmaker put a banana in his trunk. It became a routine for the elephant and the tailor. The elephant would stop by the shop on his way to the river and the dressmaker would happily feed him with bananas.
One day the dressmaker was very busy as it was marriage season. When the elephant showed up at his shop, he did not pay any attention to the elephant. That elephant waited and waited patiently but instead of giving banana, he pricked a needle into his trunk. The elephant left without showing any anger. But when he returned after taking bath, he filled his trunk with muddy water. When he came in front of the dressmaker's shop, he sprinkled the muddy water over all the newly made dresses.
Taking revenge is in the nature of man and beast alike. If someone does something wrong against us, we always think of repaying in a greater measure. This is our nature that we had inherited from Adam and Eve. This is our fallen nature which is flowing in our blood.
But Jesus came to give us a new life and to reconcile us with the Father from whom we had fallen. He came to make a bridge between us and God so that we could have access to the Father once again. He came to forgive and forget all our sins and to give us a new life.
Once Jesus said in Mat 5:39-40, "But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also."
This type of transformation happens when Jesus comes in one's life. When a person is born in the family of God by accepting Him as his/her personal Lord and Savior that person's life starts to change. God's nature starts to fill in that person and the love and compassion of God fills in his heart.
There was a missionary named Graham Stains from Australia who worked among the lepers of India. In the year 1999 he and his two sons were burnt alive when he was sleeping in his vehicle with his two sons. The vehicle was set on fire by a mob, but the people were stunned to hear the reaction of his wife who said at the time of funeral that she has forgiven those who killed her husband.
This is what happens when God forgives a person's sins and changes his/her life. Jesus came for the very purpose to take away our sins on the cross and to give us a new life, a life completely transformed and changed. If you want this life, come to Jesus, repent from your sins and accept Him as your Lord and Savior. Your life will never be the same again.
Prosperity - God's Perfect Will - Part 8
By Sherly Isaac
Deu 28:11-12, "And the LORD will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which the LORD swore to your fathers to give you. The LORD will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow."
A few days back, I was in a forum and one person said that, "Jesus' sacrifice for the dying humanity is the only essential thing and all other material blessings are non-essential so we should not dispute on those things."
But if we want to live in this world there are essential things for our daily existence like food, shelter and clothing. We just cannot ignore these things thinking that because we have come to Christ we no longer need them. These things are as essential as our spiritual birth and growth.
Once a widow came to Elisha and said, "my husband is dead and now the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves." By hearing those words Elisha did not say to her, "Don't worry about your sons, money is a non-essential thing. So if creditor takes your sons, let him do so.." No, but Elisha had a solution for her from God that would save her and her two sons from their dire needs.
2Kings 4:2-4 tells us the solution Elisha gave to her, "So Elisha said to her, "What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?" And she said, "Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil. Then he said, "Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few. And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones."
Yes, my friend, there is a God who loves us and cares for His children. If you love Him and if you walk in His ways, He will not leave you in half way, but will make a way for you. This poor widow went and did what Elisha told her and it made her an instantaneous business woman. We can see her misery turning into triumph in 2Kings 4:5-7, "So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out. Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, "Bring me another vessel." And he said to her, "There is not another vessel." So the oil ceased. Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, "Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest."
She was no longer oppressed by her creditor but her life was transformed because God gave her a solution from heaven. If God was not interested in her prosperity, He would never have given her that solution to become prosperous.
And the same God is interested in our prosperity. He promised to bless those who walk in His ways. Jesus said in Mat 6:33, "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."
The key is to seek Him first, love Him and walk in His ways and all these things will be added in your life.
