Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life" (John 8:12).
In today's modern world, I do not need to tell you the importance of light because we all know that without light, life is very difficult. We all know how important light is in our life. When Jesus was speaking about the light of life, He was speaking about spiritual light.
When God created Adam and Eve they were in full of light and full of God's glory. They were created in perfection and they were pure and holy. But sin entered in their lives when they disobeyed God. Sin separated them from God and brought darkness in their lives. They were sent out of the Garden of Eden and from the presence of the Holy God. Because of sin, death and destruction came in this world. Because of sin pain and suffering came in this world. And we cannot by any means approach God because of our sin.
But God loved us so much that He gave His precious Son to die for us. That's how Jesus came in this world, lived among us and in spite of going through all the temptations and sufferings yet He was triumphant and lived a holy life. And He gave His precious life for us shedding His holy blood for the redemption of mankind.
Today, because of His sacrifice, because of His shed blood on the cruel cross we can get forgiveness of our sins and we can live a holy life. We can get the lost glory of God. God wants us to be restored to our original condition which was full of light and full of His glory.
Not only that, He wants to fill us with His divine light so that we could walk in His light and that we may not stumble. The Psalmist says in Psa 119:105, "Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path."
When we walk in the light of His word we cannot stumble but we can walk upright and can live a holy life. Psalmist also says in Psa 119:11, "Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You."
By reading the word of God and by walking according to it we can be safe from sin. When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, every time His reply was from the Word of God. Each time He defeated His enemy the tempter by giving the reply from the Word of God.
When we use the Word of God, we do the same. No matter what temptation may come our way, no matter what hell break loose against us, no matter what sickness or problems entangle us, when we use the Word of God, we can defeat each and every thing that come against us.

Mat 28:18, "And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Jesus also said in Mark 16:16-18, "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
Bible tells us about the signs that will follow in the lives of those who believe in the name of Jesus.
They will be able to cast out demons in the name of Jesus. They will be able to speak with new tongues. They will be able to handle harmful and deadly things and they will not hurt them. And when they lay hands on the sick, they will recover. All these things would happen because of the name of Jesus. In this world also we see the power of a name. If president signs a paper, it means that it is a done deal. Nobody can alter it, nobody can reverse it because it has the name of president on it.
Jesus' name is most powerful in the whole world. When Jesus was in this world, by His one word demons trembled, by His one word the raging sea calmed down, by His one word storms and wind stopped blowing, by His one word sicknesses flew, by His one word dead people rose to life, by His one word lame, leaped, jumped and walked, blind eyes were opened, deaf ears popped open and numerous miracles happened. Just by His one word!
When Jesus was about to leave this world, He told His disciples that by His name the same signs and miracles will follow in their lives. At times people think that, miracle days are over and miracles no longer take place. Some believe that if miracles happen, then that person is a false prophet. Some believe that only Anti-Christ will be performing miracles and that no other person can do it.
But what Jesus said is completely different. Jesus specifically spoke that by His name, miracles and signs will follow in the life of a believer.
If I tell you about myself, I was born in a Christian family but never knew that miracles could happen in this age. But when I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior and when I gave my life to Jesus, I saw many miracles in my own life and in others lives. Many people write to us and tell us how God performed mighty and awesome miracles hearing our prayers.
Yes, my friend, there is a God who loves us so much and who is ready to deliver us from all our bondages, sins, problems and troubles. He wants to solve our problems supernaturally. If we just come to Him and ask Him to come into our lives. When He comes in our lives, He will bring His awesome and mighty power to us. Miracles will automatically start happening.
