The whole Bible tells us that we must be holy just as God is holy. God said in Leviticus 11:45, 'For I am the LORD who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

Not only in the Old Testament but also in the New Testament we read the same thing. Heb 12:14, "Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:" And in 1 Pet 1:15-16, "but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."

Bible also tells us that we are dead in sin and the wages of sin is death. If we continue in our sins, hell awaits us. But if we repent from our sins and turn to Jesus and live a holy life heaven awaits us.

Recently I was reading a true story of a young girl who died for 23 hours then she was taken to heaven and hell where she saw some world famous people in hell fire in great torment. The whole story can be read here: Prepare to meet your God

For a period of 23 hours, a young Ecuadorian girl named Angelica was shown the Kingdoms of Heaven and Hell, and the Return of Christ. She witnessed Jesus weeping as He looked at multitudes of souls lost forever, a world that has rejected Him, a Church that is mostly unprepared for Him, a people who have stopped witnessing to the lost, and an entertainment industry that even lures children to satan. She witnessed many of our esteemed cultural icons suffering in the Pit; singers, entertainers, and even a pope. Angelica was also shown how the Kingdom of Heaven is all wonderfully prepared and ready, an unimaginable glorious place, where no evil exists. Though Jesus is coming back ONLY for the Holy People, many of God's children will NOT be ready on that day, and will be left behind in a world that is falling apart.

The pope who had preached to millions could not enter into heaven. The reason was simple that he never sought forgiveness for his sins nor did he try to walk in the holy ways of God. Instead he walked in the ways of this world and the result was that he ended up in hell fire.
Entertainers to whom God gave great talents, instead of glorifying God, used their talents to make money and to live in sin. The bottom line was that they never repented from their sins nor did they try to live in the ways of Holy God.

Bible tells us that unless we are holy, we cannot see God or the kingdom of God. Before we could walk in the holy ways of God, our sins must be forgiven. And to get forgiveness of our sins, there is only one way that is the precious blood of Jesus shed on the cruel cross that washes away our sin. If we repent from our sins, He is ready to forgive us of all our sins and is ready to give us a new life.

Those who have found forgiveness of their sin are new creations in Christ as we read in 2 Cor 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." And if you continue in this new life, you would be in heaven when you are dead in this world.

You can get this new life by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

John MacArthur writes in his book titled, "Hard to Believe: The High Cost and Infinite Value of Following Jesus" (page 100, Chapter 6, Empty Words) and gives examples of his three friends who either abandoned the faith or never came to Christ. In his first example he says about his friend Ralph that, "He was the head of his church youth group, and I was the head of mine. He said all the right things and seemed for all the world to be on fire for Christ. But when he went off to college, he completely abandoned the faith. I was stunned."

John MacArthur never told us whether his friend Ralph had ever accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior or not? And if he did, it is possible that he might have backslidden and went back to the ways of this world. But the first thing is to know God and have a personal relationship with God. Unless a person is in Christ, no amount of righteous deeds matter because our righteous deeds cannot save us but only the blood of Jesus shed on the cruel cross. When a person realizes that he/she is a sinner and invites Jesus to come into his/her life as their Lord and Savior, their sins are forgiven and they become children of God. As we read in John 1:12-13, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."

In his second example he writes, "In college I had a close friend named Don who was, I thought, a true spiritual friend in every sense. We were co-captains of the football team; he was class president and I was vice president; we both taught Bible studies; our dads were pastors, and we were thinking about being pastors too. We talked a lot together about serving the Lord. But then he went to Europe, got a Ph.D. in psychology, became a teacher a rock-concert promoter, and eventually was indicted, convicted, and sentenced for having students naked up in front of his classroom. He totally abandoned the faith."

Again we do not read whether John MacArthur's friend was saved or not. Just because he was teaching Bible, just because he spoke about being pastor or serving the Lord does not make him a saved child of God. Jesus once said to Peter that, "If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me." We read whole conversation in John 13:6-10, "Then He came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him, "Lord, are You washing my feet?" Jesus answered and said to him, "What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this." Peter said to Him, "You shall never wash my feet!" Jesus answered him, "If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me." Simon Peter said to Him, "Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!" Jesus said to him, "He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you."

Every person needs cleansing from their sins and only Jesus can cleanse us from all our sins. Bible says in 1 John 1:9-10, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us."

Unless our sins are forgiven, we cannot have any part in Him.

In the third example of John MacArthur he writes, "Then I went to seminary, where one of my best friends, whose father was the dean, put a Buddhist altar in his house after he graduated. Here was someone who had prepared himself for a lifetime of teaching and preaching the truth of Scripture, yet whose whole life and ministry up to that time were revealed to be a deceptive lie."

Again we do not know whether John MacArthur's friend and his father were saved or not? Whether they had ever accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior or not? Unless a person has a personal relationship with God, there is no meaning of doing everything right or teaching and preaching the truth of Scripture, because it does not give us salvation of our souls. No amount of good works, no amount of rituals, and no amount of our hard work would ever save us from hell fire but only Jesus could.
The very first step to salvation is to just come at the feet of Jesus and accept Him as our Lord and Savior. Jesus has already done the work of our salvation on the cross and now we have to receive His salvation. It is like you have received a gift card but unless you have redeemed it, you cannot enjoy its benefits. Until you redeem the gift card, it is just a piece of cardboard and it will do no good for you. But as soon as you redeem the gift card, you can experience the goodness of it. Yes, we need to experience the redemption given by Jesus on the cruel cross then only we can know the goodness of it. Then only you can know how good it feels when your burdens of sins are lifted away from you and what great peace and joy it brings in your life.

Here is a simple prayer to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior: Lord Jesus I am a sinner. Please forgive and forget all my sins and wash me with your precious blood. Today I accept you as my Lord and Savior. Please come into my life and help me to live a holy life. As you have promised to give eternal life to those who come to you, I come to you, please give me eternal life. Thank you Jesus for forgiving my sins and giving me a new life. I give you all the glory and honor and I pray this prayer in Jesus name. Amen.

If you have prayed this prayer from the bottom of your heart, you are a saved person. Now you have to read the Bible everyday, pray everyday and go to a Bible believing Church where the word of God is preached.
