Solomon was a wise man but he had two or three weaknesses because of which he fell in sin and drifted away from the Lord. In 1 Kings 3:3 we read, "And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of his father David, except that he sacrificed and burned incense at the high places."

On the one side Solomon loved the Lord and walked in the ways of God and yet it appears that he had several weaknesses. His first weakness was in burning incense at the high places. In other words he was keeping his foot in two boats that led him to destruction. Some times we do not overcome our weaknesses by doing some extra work prayerfully and carefully and try to eradicate every weakness, every sin and everything that is of hindrance in our walk with God.

At the time when we get salvation and forgiveness of our sins all our past sins are forgiven and we receive a new life. But our old life and old habits conflict with the new life. A battle starts from that moment. The more we allow Jesus to work in our lives, the more we spend time with Him in reading Bible and in prayer, the more we yield to the will of God, He will transform our lives and turn our lives around.

The second weakness of Solomon was that he went back to Egypt, made a treaty with Pharaoh and married Pharaoh's daughter as we read in 1 Kings 3:1, "Now Solomon made a treaty with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and married Pharaoh's daughter; then he brought her to the City of David until he had finished building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall all around Jerusalem."

Probably it does not seem to be a big thing in having gone back to Egypt, making treaty with the king of Egypt and marrying king of Egypt's daughter but according to Deuteronomy 28:68 it is considered as curse in going back to Egypt as we read here, "And the LORD will take you back to Egypt in ships, by the way of which I said to you, 'You shall never see it again.' And there you shall be offered for sale to your enemies as male and female slaves, but no one will buy you."

Once the Israelites were slaves in the land of Egypt going through hardship, tears and terrible trials and they were redeemed by the mighty hand of God. Going back to their old ways is considered as curse. In the same way if we are saved by the precious blood of Jesus, we should be very careful never to return to the same sinful ways from which we were redeemed. It could be some habits, it could be some friends who may revisit you, but take a bold decision to stay with Jesus instead of going back with them in their sinful ways. Galatians 5:1 says, "Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage."

And we also read in 2 Corinthians 6:14 that, "Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?"

But Solomon did the biggest mistake in marrying the Egyptian king's daughter. Also we read about Solomon that his wives turned his heart after other gods and he was not faithful to the Lord God almighty. We read in 1 Kings 11:4-6, "For it was so, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the LORD his God, as was the heart of his father David. For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and did not fully follow the LORD, as did his father David."

We receive prayer requests of people telling heartbreaking stories who had married unbelievers and had lost all their joy and peace. But if you repent, God is ready to forgive and forget all your sins and ready to fix your life and marriage. Just come to Jesus and He will take care of your situations.

When Jesus was about to leave this world, He spoke to His disheartened disciples who probably were unaware of what was coming on their way. Jesus said to them in John 14:1-2, "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."

When I was very small child probably five or six years old, one night I saw a dream. In my dream I saw that Jesus was sitting in a place that seemed like a garden. There was a big tree having many branches and full of leaves. There were many bird's nests hanging on a tree. Some were large, some were small and they were of different kinds. Then Jesus took me to one of the nests and showed me saying it is yours. I did not understand that dream at that time but later when I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior then I realized what Jesus meant by showing that beautiful nest.

Those who have invited Jesus in their hearts, for them Jesus is preparing a home so that they would live with Him forever in heaven.

Heaven is a real place and hell is also a real place. When Jesus was in this world He explained and even urged people to get out of their sins so that they may not end up in hellfire.

Once he spoke the story of a rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19 onwards. The rich man had everything in his life but he never cared about getting forgiveness of his sins. He had nothing to do with God. And there was a beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. One day the beggar died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom.

The rich man also died and was buried. And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.' But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.'

Then he said, 'I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house, for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.' Abraham said to him, 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.' And he said, 'No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.' But he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.'"

This story tells us two things that we need to repent and turn from our evil ways then only we can enter into heaven. And once a person is in hell, he/she cannot go to heaven. So when we are still alive we need to repent and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, because after death there is no hope of getting saved.

And when you repent, Jesus will forgive and forget all your sins and will give you a new life. Would you invite Jesus today in your life?
