"Where are the prophets who could have told us beforehand of this tragedy which took place in WTC." These are the words ringing in my mind since last Tuesday Sep. the 11th 2001. Many will say, " we are living in an age when we do not really need any prophets or we do not need any revelation." In other word, we do not need God or His heavenly counsel anymore. But is it the reality? Of course not!

Bible tells us in Malachi 3:6, "For I am the LORD, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob." And Bible also says in Hebrews 13:8, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever."

So we can see that the qualities of God is not changing even in New Testament. If God could speak in Old Testament time to His people and if He could speak in New Testament to His people then why will He change the rules? Why will He decide not to speak to us today? But let me tell you that God still speaks today, He has not changed a bit nor changed His qualities.

We read in 2 Kings 6:8-12 about the prophet named Elisha who got prophecy revealed to him of the coming of the enemy at a certain place and Elisha warned the king of Israel as we read in 2 Kings 6:8-12, "Now the king of Syria was making war against Israel; and he consulted with his servants, saying, "My camp will be in such and such a place." And the man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, "Beware that you do not pass this place, for the Syrians are coming down there. Then the king of Israel sent someone to the place of which the man of God had told him. Thus he warned him, and he was watchful there, not just once or twice. Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was greatly troubled by this thing; and he called his servants and said to them, "Will you not show me which of us is for the king of Israel?" And one of his servants said, "None, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom."

Yes, there is a God who can precisely tell you what is going to happen in your land, in your community and in your neighborhood and warn His people from the coming danger. He is all knowing God and knows the future.

We see another incident in the book of Jonah when God told Prophet Jonah to go to Nineveh and cry out against it saying, "Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!" (Jonah 3:4) And further we read in Jonah 3:5-8, "So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them. Then word came to the king of Nineveh; and he arose from his throne and laid aside his robe, covered himself with sackcloth and sat in ashes. And he caused it to be proclaimed and published throughout Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything; do not let them eat, or drink water. But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God; yes, let every one turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands."
And the Bible tells us that, that city was saved because Jonah proclaimed the prophecy of God in that land.

Yes my friend, today we need prophets who can tell us what is going to happen next. We are approaching the time when our Lord Jesus' return is very near and we know that terrible things will take place before His coming and so it is necessary that we should have prophets in our land in our community and in our Churches. Apostle Paul said in Ephesians 4:11, "And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers." Also he said in 1 Corinthians 12:28, "And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues."

Apostle Paul said that God has appointed seven types of ministry in Church out of which the first is the ministry by apostles and second is of prophets. Who are the apostles? Bible tells us about nine gifts of Holy Spirit in 1 Corinthians 12th chapter. A person who is filled with Holy Spirit and have all the nine gifts of Holy Spirit is called an apostle of God. Bible also says in 2 Corinthians 12:12, "Truly the signs of an apostle were accomplished among you with all perseverance, in signs and wonders and mighty deeds." A prophet is a person who has the gift of prophecy. But how sad it is that today most of our churches are not giving any importance to the most important ministry which was ordained by God Himself- the apostleship and prophet hood. And that is the main reason why the Christian nation is facing failure. If we want success and blessing in our nation we need prophets in our Churches who can tell us what to do, what not to do, where to go, where not to go and bring heavenly revelation and counsel at times of need.

By Sherly Isaac

We heard this term so many times in the last week. One of the main hijacker Mohammed Atta said to his family before he went on this rampage, "I will be a martyr and go to heaven." But how sad it is that in his ignorance he headed straight towards eternal hell. No one can go to heaven by killing others. When Jesus was crucified, on the cross He said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." ( Luke 23:34)

Yes, having no knowledge of what they are doing and devoid of true understanding many are heading towards hell fire. They are blinded by the devil and they really do not know what they are doing.

Actually what is Jihad? What does it mean? Let me try to answer these questions. "Jihad" is an Arabic word that means "Struggle". Muslims are called to struggle for Allah or to spread Islam no matter what it costs. By this I do not try to imply that all the Muslims are violent people. They are regular human beings and most of the time they live normal life. But Islam religion or Quran teaches about "Jihad" or "Holy War" which makes them violent. "Jihad" is considered to be the most important religious act in Islam. Not only Quran but also Hadith says about this "Holy War" and expounds its benefits like getting directly into heaven etc.

Here are a few Quranic verses:

Al-Anfal (Spoils of War)
Sura 8:60 Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of Allah and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of Allah, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly.

At-Tauba (The Repentance)
Sura 9:14 Fight them, and Allah will punish them by your hands, cover them with shame, help you (to victory) over them, heal the breasts of Believers,

So we can see that permission is given by Allah to kill those who are unbelievers or those who do not follow Allah while Bible condemns these types of activities and warns people very clearly that by living in sin they can not enter into heaven. Bible says in Galatians 5:19-21, "Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God."

Jesus speaking about devil as thief in John 10:10, "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."

Yes, destruction, murder, killing, stealing, hate etc comes from devil, it is not from God. God wants us to live eternally but devil wants us to be killed and destroyed. He wants to steal our blessings. But on the other hand God wants to see us blessed and live forever as the Bible says in Ezekiel 18:23, "Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?" says the Lord GOD, "and not that he should turn from his ways and live?" That was the reason why Moses said in Deuteronomy 30:19, "I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live."

Yes, Jesus Himself came to give us eternal life. He died on our behalf so that we may come out of our sins and live a holy life. My friend, Jihad is not the answer to go to heaven but if we want to go to heaven there is only one condition i.e. our sins must be forgiven. And only God can forgive our sins. Come to Jesus and accept Him as your Lord and Savior and He will give you eternal life. Bible says in John 3:15-16, "that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
