We have entered into New Year and you can call it a new era. So many horrific things happened in past year and it changed the thinking of our leaders and general public. People started thinking how to stop from happening again all these atrocities which took place last year. On other side hundreds and thousands of people are grieving because they lost their loved ones. Depression rate increased, suicide rate is gone up and many lives are totally shattered. Many lost their hopes in their lives. One of the pilots of helicopter went home and committed suicide after seeing the horrific scene of people jumping from high raised buildings and his inability to rescue them. People are looking for peace and joy in wrong places like clubs and bars etc.
But Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
Today Jesus is calling you to unload your loads at His feet that He may give you rest. Are you broken hearted and loaded with loads of sin, worry and problem? Did you lose all your hopes? Are you depressed, lonely and dejected? Cast all your problems on Jesus, who came in this world to take away our sins, sorrow, pain, sighs, tears and burdens. There may be no one who can understand your problems and tears but there is one who understands you because He Himself went through terrible sufferings, pain and death. He is able to wipe away your tears. Jesus said in John 14:1, "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me."
When Jesus was about to leave this world He said to His disciples in John 14:17-18, "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you."
Jesus does not want you to be orphan. He wants to be your father and caretaker. Will you invite Jesus in your life? Your life may be in total mess but Jesus can take care of you and Jesus can pull you out of your messed up life.
Divine Comforter
By Sherly Isaac
Lam 1:16 "For these things I weep; My eye, my eye overflows with water; Because the comforter, who should restore my life, Is far from me. My children are desolate Because the enemy prevailed."
This verse talks about the comforter who restores the life but He is far from them and because of that she cries and cries and there is no peace, no comfort for her. But God wants us to live in peace, He wants us to give His divine peace and comfort. God told Moses that He will walk with him and give him rest and we read in Isaiah 63:14, "And the Spirit of the LORD causes him to rest, So You lead Your people, To make Yourself a glorious name."
God walked before them and gave them rest. Holy Spirit or Spirit of God gives divine comfort when you are in tears and when you do not have any peace, Holy Spirit comforts us and consoles us and restores our lives. David says in Psalms 23:1-3, "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake."
If Lord is your shepherd, He will walk before you, will lead you in green pastures and beside the still waters. And He will restore your soul, He will restore your life. Bible tells us that God Himself is living water as we read in Jeremiah 2:13, "For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, And hewn themselves cisterns; broken cisterns that can hold no water."
Jesus said to the Samaritan women, ask and I will give you the living water as we read in John 4:10, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water." Further Jesus says in John 4:13-14, "Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life."
Holy Spirit is fountain of life and He can give you everlasting life, He can restore your life no matter how broken your life may be. Jesus said in John 7:37-38, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." Jesus also said in John 10:10, "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
Yes, He wants to give you abundant life - a life full of peace, joy and happiness. A life full of His blessings. If you have not yet received this wonderful life, this is the time to invite Jesus in your life. Invite Holy Spirit in your life. When Holy Spirit will come into your life He will restore your life and give you comfort and peace that world can not give.
