Yasser Arafat walked out yesterday as a free man as Israeli troops have ended their siege in Ramallah headquarters where he was held for nearly five months. And Jenin refugee camp and other places of Palestine were devastated. What is the reason behind all these things? The reason is simple, Arafat and Palestine people harbored terrorism and violence. They deliberately allowed terrorists to go and kill Israelites.
Mr. Bush the president of America, chastised Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat in a Rose Garden speech saying, "The situation in which he finds himself today is largely of his own making." Bush also warned Syria and Iran against fomenting more violence. Mr. Arafat could only come out of his home when he handed over the terrorists. Jenin refugee camp's devastation is no different than the siege of Arafat's Ramallah headquarters. CBN news reported that, "Palestinians claimed that more than 500 people died in Jenin but Israelites claimed that 56 people died and most of them were gunmen." And in other news report they said that Palestinians are digging graves to show more number of dead bodies.
How pathetic and how miserable is the condition? As long as people live in sin and harbor sin they live in miserable and painful condition. Many do not want to come out of their sins neither they want to renounce sin just like Arafat. Most of the people prefer to live in bondage and they blame God or others for their miserable conditions. But it is not God who brings misery, pain and bondage in your lives but most of the times you are the reason of your miserable condition. But Jesus came in this world to save us from sin and to deliver us from our bondages. He wants to remove our pains and misery from our lives. Bible says in 2 Chronicles 7:14, "if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
You need not to live in misery and pain. You need not to live in bondage because Jesus has already died on the cross on your behalf to deliver you from bondage and sin. If you repent from your sins and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior in your life, He will deliver you from all your sins and miserable conditions.
Many even live in misery and pain after getting salvation because they do not want to let go their old habits. But if you allow Holy Spirit to take control of your life completely, He will make you a new person. He will change you completely and bless your lives.
Israel My beloved
By Sherly Isaac
Bible talks about Israel as God's chosen nation and a nation in whom God delights. 1 Kings 10:9 says about Solomon, "Because the LORD has loved Israel forever, therefore He made you king, to do justice and righteousness."
What is the reason that God loved Israel? Moses gives two reply for this question in Deuteronomy 9:4-6, "Do not think in your heart, after the LORD your God has cast them out before you, saying, 'Because of my righteousness the LORD has brought me in to possess this land'; but it is because of the wickedness of these nations that the LORD is driving them out from before you. It is not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart that you go in to possess their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations that the LORD your God drives them out from before you, and that He may fulfill the word which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Therefore understand that the LORD your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked people."
Because of the wickedness of Canaanites God's punishment came upon them. Because God swore to Abraham that He will give this land to him and his descendants.
One man's obedience gave birth to this noble nation. One man's obedience made this possible that generations of Abraham and other nations be blessed. When God asked Abraham to leave his country and go to a place that He will show him. He obeyed God and left his own country, his own people and his belongings to go to a foreign nation. And God told him that, He would make him a big nation. We read in Genesis 17:7-9, "And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God. And God said to Abraham: "As for you, you shall keep My covenant, you and your descendants after you throughout their generations."
God kept His promise and made His covenant with Isaac. Then we read further that God changed the name of Jacob, son of Isaac to Israel from whom twelve tribes came and Israel became a nation. This tiny nation experienced worst offences from his neighbors but still stands as a nation because of the promise of God with Abraham. God cannot change His mind or cannot lie, what He says, He is able to fulfill. He is the God who keeps His promises.
We also read about Noah a man whom God said to build an ark to save himself and his family. God also told him to take animals, creeping thing and birds of every kind into his ark. It was not an easy job to do for him because he lived in desert and he might have never seen any kind of boat. If he makes the ark then the problem was how he will bring every kind of animals, birds and creeping things in board? How much food Noah and his family will need and all those living creatures with him will need?
But Noah obeyed God and did what He told him to do. And because of one man's obedience eight people survived in that flood when whole world was destroyed with rain.
Bible says in Romans 5:12 that, "through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned." Why? Because one man, Adam, disobeyed God, sin and sufferings came in this world. But when one man, Jesus, obeyed God till His last breath, life and blessings came through Him as we read in Romans 5:15, "But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man's offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many."
Billy Graham is the greatest Evangelist of this century. One man who stirred up the world and led millions to Christ. What is the reason of reaching to these heights? Because this man obeyed God when he was a teenager. He dedicated his life for Christ and heard the voice of God. Once I heard him saying in a TV program that when he got saved that time he was dating with a girl. God said to him to end that relationship. Billy Graham said, it was not easy to do that but with very heavy heart he went to her house and told everything. Both cried then Billy Graham bade goodbye to her forever. Why? Because he wanted to obey God. And no wonder he could reach to these heights in ministry.
Today, God is looking for one man or one woman who can obey Him and turn the curses of people to blessings. Today people are in tears, pain, sufferings and in problems. They do not know which way to turn. Will you hear His voice and obey Him? God is looking for you to change this world, are you that one man or one woman?
