We read many great prophets in the Bible. Does the prophet exist today and what are their functionalities? Let us look from the Bible.

A prophet can scan through you:
We read in the Bible about Gehazi, servant of Elisha about whom Elisha a prophet of God could tell exactly what he did.

When Naaman came to Elisha for healing of leprosy and when Naaman went and took a bath according to the words of Elisha and got complete healing, he came back to Elisha and wanted to give some gift, but Elisha refused to take anything. We read in 2 Kings 5:21-26, that Gehazi pursued Naaman. When Naaman saw him running after him, he got down from the chariot to meet him, and said, "Is all well?" And Gehazi said, "All is well. My master has sent me, saying, 'Indeed, just now two young men of the sons of the prophets have come to me from the mountains of Ephraim. Please give them a talent of silver and two changes of garments.'" So, Naaman said, "Please, take two talents." And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and handed them to two of his servants; and they carried them on ahead of him. When he came to the citadel, he took them from their hand, and stored them away in the house; then he let the men go, and they departed. Now he went in and stood before his master. Elisha said to him, "Where did you go, Gehazi?" And he said, "Your servant did not go anywhere." Then he said to him, "Did not my heart go with you when the man turned back from his chariot to meet you? Is it time to receive money and to receive clothing, olive groves and vineyards, sheep and oxen, male and female servants?"

Elisha was a prophet of God and God showed Elisha in a vision what Gehazi did, how he went after Naaman and asked for gifts, etc. When Elisha asked Gehazi that, "Where did you go, Gehazi?" He said, "I did not go anywhere." But Elisha saw that where he was gone and what he did as we read in above verses.

This happened in Old Testament. But what about the New Testament? Many believe that prophet days are over and we do not have prophets now and even many believe that there were no prophets in New Testament. But reality is far away from it.

We read about Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5th chapter. They sold a possession and Ananias kept back part of the proceeds, his wife being aware of it, brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles' feet. But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?" And further Peter said to him, "Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God." And further we read that both Ananias and Sapphira died instantaneously.

But the question is how Peter knew that they lied and kept back a portion of the proceeds? Because Peter was no ordinary person but a prophet of God who could see the very heart of Ananias and Sapphira. And could know the real situation.

Yes, a prophet can scan through you. You cannot play double role before a prophet because the Spirit of the living God lives in a prophet. And according to the Bible, prophet days are not over as we read in 1 Cor 12:28, "And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues."

Apostle Paul also talks about the various gifts of the Holy Spirit in 1 Cor 12th chapter. And one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is the gift of the prophecy.

How we can have this gift in our lives?
1. Our sins must be forgiven or we should have the experience of born again as Jesus said in John 3:3, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."
2. Anointing of the Holy Spirit: Once your sins are forgiven you are eligible to get the experience of anointing of the holy Spirit. Without getting filled with the Holy Spirit we cannot have the gifts of the Holy Spirit. When Holy Spirit comes and fills a person, He gives the different gifts to them.

Yes, these are the precious gifts of God and God wants to give it to you so that you may not be cheated by others but know the perfect will of God. If you want these precious gifts, ask Him to come and fill you with the Holy Spirit.

Sin and Death

By Sherly Isaac

Bible talks about the consequences of sin that is death. Because of sin death came and reigned over whole world. We read in Romans 5:12, "Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned"

Adam and Eve sinned and sin came in this world and brought death and punishment in this world. Many think that death and sin was invention of Paul. But let us look in Genesis what happened after they sinned. When Adam and Eve sinned their eyes were opened. God punished them for their disobedience. They got separated from God and became spiritually dead. Of course physical death came too because of their sin.

Genesis 5th chapter talks about the death and destruction of the family of Adam. Once a preacher said that this is the graveyard chapter of the Bible. Because almost every verse talks about someone's death like this, "So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years; and he died..... and he died... and he died... yes, death came in this world because of sin. But God did not stop there and did not sit and see us dying and going to hellfire.

Romans 5:14-15, "Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man's offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many."

Jesus came in this world and gave His precious blood on the cruel cross to give us everlasting life. He came to take away the death and destruction from our lives. We are born in sin and we are heading to eternal death but Jesus wants to give you eternal life. Will you accept the gift of His eternal life? If yes, please pray this prayer with me:

Loving Jesus, I thank you for the great sacrifice you have given for me so that I may come out of my sins. You gave yourself for me to take away the death and destruction from my life. Lord Jesus, please wash me with your precious blood. I invite you as my Lord and Savior. Please come into my life and change me. When I close my eyes in this world, I should open my eyes in your presence in heaven. Thank you Jesus for listening my prayers. I pray this prayer in Jesus name, Amen!
