By Sherly Isaac

Wow, what a day it was. We woke up on Sunday morning as usual and were preparing to go to Church. One of our friends called us and said, "did you hear the news... Saddam Hussein has been captured!" Of course it was a thrilling and major victory.

We all want to celebrate our victories. We all love to get victory in our lives. None of us want to face defeat in our lives. Bible tells us about three basic principles to be followed so that we can lead an victorious life.

1. Holy life, 2. Faithful to God, 3. Obey God in every step.

Holy life:
We have many examples in the Bible of people who lived a holy life and because of that God gave them victory over their enemies. After Moses' death, Joshua became leader for Israel. Once the Israelites went to fight but they had to run for their lives. They lost many of their men. They faced death and defeat. Joshua fell on His face before God and asked why they had to face defeat? God said to him in Josh 7:11, "Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. For they have even taken some of the accursed things, and have both stolen and deceived; and they have also put it among their own stuff."

The sin of one man Achan, brought death and defeat to the whole Israelites. In the same way, as long as David walked in holiness, he saw victory after victory in his life, but his one sin made him to run for his life. He saw death in his home. He found himself surrounded by enemies and fear of the sword became a part of his life. His life became miserable.

Yes, if we want to see victory in our lives, we need to live a holy life. Without holiness we cannot please God nor can we see any blessing in our lives.

Faithful to God:

If we want to win in our life it is very important that we should be faithful to God. Bible says about Saul that he died because of his faithlessness as we read in 1 Chr 10:13-14, "So Saul died for his unfaithfulness which he had committed against the LORD, because he did not keep the word of the LORD, and also because he consulted a medium for guidance. But he did not inquire of the LORD; therefore He killed him, and turned the kingdom over to David the son of Jesse." Saul whom God called for a great destiny, lost everything, because of his sin and unfaithfulness toward God. And finally he saw defeat and faced tragic death.

Obeying God:

Obeying God is another key for success. As long as you obey God, He will give you victory in your life. Saul was victorious until the day he disobeyed God. When he failed to obey God, he lost everything. Adam is the one classic example of what happens when a person disobeys God.

What is your position today? Are you winning in your life or facing constant defeat in your life? If you are facing defeat in your life then you need to give a thorough checkup and see whether you are walking in the ways of God or not. You need to examine your life to see if there is any secret sin in your life. And you need to repent and turn to the Lord.

We thank all of you who sent best wishes and Christmas and New Year E-cards. It is not possible for us to thank each of you personally. Our prayers and best wishes are with you and your family. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very happy and blessed new year 2004! A very special greeting card is waiting for you at: Click here

His name will be called "Mighty God"

By Sherly Isaac

Isa 9:6, "For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

Once I read a small story in, "INSIGHTS from Bill Bright" Reflections from the late Founder and President/Chairman Emeritus of Campus Crusade for Christ International.

There was a man from India who was a devout member of a Hindu sect and who had a profound sense of reverence for life. He would not kill an ant, a cow, or even a cobra, because to him, due to his belief in reincarnation, he might be killing some past relative.

During his visit to America, he had been confronted with the claims of Christ, yet he could not grasp the biblical truth that God actually visited this planet in the flesh in the person of Jesus Christ. He could not comprehend how the Great Creator God of the Universe could become a man, or why.

One day as he was walking in the field meditating upon this new truth about Jesus the Christ being God, he was wondering how this could possibly be. He ran across a large ant hill with thousands of little ants scurrying around in their busy like manner. He was standing there observing with wonder the activity of these ants, and what amazing creatures they are, when suddenly, he heard a tremendous and threatening noise. It was the noise of a large tractor plowing the fields.

As he looked up he discovered that the tractor would soon be plowing through that ant hill and thousands of ants would probably be killed and their home destroyed. Gripped with the same concern you and I would feel for hundreds of people trapped in a burning building, he became frantic. He wanted to warn them of their impending destruction.

He thought to himself, "How can I warn them? If I could write in the sand, they wouldn't be able to read it. If I shouted to them, they wouldn't understand me. The only possible way I could communicate with them would be by becoming an ant, if I had that ability."

Then suddenly he had a revelation from the Spirit of God. He saw why God, the Creator of the universe, chose to become one of us by becoming a man, in the Person of the God-man, Jesus of Nazareth.

Through his experience with the ant hill, the light suddenly came on in the heart of that Hindu man, and now he understood the words of Paul: "who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men" (Phil 2:6-7).

Though Jesus was mighty God, still He came down in this world to save us from hell fire. He could not see us going into hell fire. He could not see us dying in our sins. So He came down in this world. He took the form of a man to take away our sins and to make us sin free.

Will you hear His voice in this Christmas season and invite this Mighty God in your life so that you could be saved and enter into heaven. Bible says in John 1:12-13, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."
