By Sherly Isaac

Once I read a true story. One young man and young girl got married and started their new life. Days and months passed by and their love grew more and more for each other. As their first wedding anniversary was approaching they individually thought to give best gifts to each other. Husband thought, "My wife has beautiful golden hair, I will purchase beautiful gold hairclip for her." Wife thought the same way, "My husband has a very costly dress, I will purchase a pair of gold cufflinks for that shirt." Both planned it and did not discuss it with each other. They saved a portion of money from each of their income so that they could purchase gifts for each other.

When only a few days were left for their wedding anniversary they realized that the money at their disposal was not enough for purchasing the gifts. Both thought of ways how to get more money. Wife gave serious thought to cut her hair and sell it. On the other side husband thought to sell his costly shirt and make money to purchase the gift for his wife. Both were hesitant to take this giant step but their great love for each other compelled them to sacrifice anything. They sold whatever best was with them to purchase gifts for each other.

2000 years ago, God gave His only begotten son for us. He gave His best so that we could get forgiveness of our sins and get eternal life through Him. This was the best gift ever given to mankind. He took the form of a man to be born in a manger. He grew up in a humble home. The creator of this world had no proper place at the time of His birth to live properly. Still He lived among us, went through all the problems a human being could ever go through, because He loved us. It was His love for us that compelled Him to leave His heavenly abode and come down among us. He sacrificed the best things which He enjoyed in heaven and came down to experience the worst just because of us, just to save us. Today, this wonderful and the greatest gift is available for us.

In this Christmas will you humble yourself to receive Him in your hearts. If you do that He will give you a new life and a new beginning.

We thank all of you who sent best wishes and Christmas and New Year E-cards. It is not possible for us to thank each of you personally. Our prayers and best wishes are with you and your family. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very happy and blessed new year 2004!

A Savior is born

By Sheela Isaac

Luke 2:10, "Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people." Luke 2:11, "For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Bible describes Jesus as Savior, the Savior of the world who can save us from sin and eternal damnation. Yes indeed, He came to save us from our sins, He came to give us eternal life. Many have come and gone, but nobody could claim that they are the savior of the world nor could they have the ability to save people from hell fire. No one could claim that. But look at Lord Jesus Christ. He said, "I am the way the truth and the life."

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

Let's us look at the qualities of the Savior:

1. I am the Way:

Jesus did not say, "I am the person who shows the way to heaven." No, but He said, "I am The way." He said, "I myself is the way." It means that if you want to reach heaven you've to follow Lord Jesus Christ. Bible says very clearly that there is no other name given for us to reach heaven except through Jesus. Acts 4:12, "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Read verse 10 and you'll find that this verse is talking about Jesus. There is only one name given and that is the name of Jesus. Only through Jesus can we receive salvation. Only through Jesus can we reach heaven. That's what Jesus said about Himself that He is the way.

2. I am the Truth:

Bible says, "you will know the truth and truth will set you free." John 8:32, "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Now what is truth? Jesus Himself is truth. Only Jesus can set you free, only Jesus can deliver you from sin. John 1:9, "That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world." Jesus Christ the true light came down into this world so that we can receive the light. Today many are in Christian homes but they do not even know what the light is. They are themselves living in darkness and in sin because they never knew the truth. Bible says that He came to His own but His own did not receive Him.

John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.
John 1:11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.

Why could they not receive Him? Because their works were evil. Bible says so. They always wanted to live in sin. Their desire is always towards sin. That's why they could not receive Him. We find in Bible that the Pharisees and Sadducees rejected Christ because their works were evil. They always wanted to follow their tradition and not the savior. They always wanted to show themselves as big and righteous in society, but their deeds were evil in the sight of God.

If you really want to know Christ personally or want to make Him your Savior and Lord you need a heart of repentance. Without repentance and humility nobody can receive Christ. The Pharisees missed the goal because of lack of humility. They were not humble. So they were not ready to accept Jesus as Lord or Master over them. That is why they rejected Him. What about you? Do you have a heart of repentance? What does Repentance mean according to dictionary?

Repentance - remorse for your past conduct or
Remorse or contrition for past conduct or sin.
Repentance is a change of mind, or a conversion from sin to God.

Real repentance means that one can feel sorry for his/her sin and are willing to change or willing to correct themselves. Willing to leave that sin and totally turn around from it. We find from Bible that the Pharisees never wanted to change their mind or attitude. They never had the mind to realize what is right and what is wrong. That's why they never repented. Instead of it they nailed Jesus on the Cross. 2 Cor 7:10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, Bible says that when a person really repent from his sin it produces SALVATION. If you are not saved till today it means that you've never really repented from your sins. And you must know that without repentance you can never reach heaven.

3. I am the Life:

John 11:25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. John 11:26 "And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?"

Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life." He did not say that he helps people to get life or helps the people to reach where life is. No, He said that He is The Life. What a blessed Savior He is. He is The Way, The Truth and The Life. What a blessed hope we have in Christ. If you receive Him as your Lord and Savior, you will never die but live in heaven forever and ever. By inviting Jesus into your heart you'll not only receive salvation for your soul, but you'll receive Life itself. Jesus said, "you'll never die." Yes He is that Life. When once you receive Him you'll never die. Your mortal bodies may die in this world. Your body may return into dust, you may get into grave, but still you have a hope. You'll live forever and ever with Christ in heaven. One day He'll resurrect your mortal bodies into a glorious body, because He himself is the Resurrection and the Life.

If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, if you are saved, then Christmas is really a meaningful event for you because you are not lost, you are not without hope today. Christmas is nothing about Santa or red nosed reindeer but is the event of great joy that the Savior is born in this world. Yes Christmas is all about Jesus who came down into this world 2000 years back to die for you and me. For the very purpose of Salvation He came down into this world. If you are still not saved, for which the savior came and died, then your Christmas is meaningless. You may decorate your house with beautiful lights or with Christmas tree. You may prepare lots of cookies or cake but that does not make any sense. Think about it, "Are you saved? Has Jesus a place in your heart during this Christmas season?" Have you ever invited Jesus into your heart? Have you ever repented from your sins? Have you ever said, "Lord you are the life, give this life to me, you are the way to heaven give me a place in heaven?" Have you ever prayed, if not you can receive Christ into your heart at this Christmas.

Please repeat this prayer after me:
Lord Jesus please come into my heart. Lord I believe that you are the way to heaven. Lord I believe that only through you I can reach heaven. I want a place in heaven. Please forgive and forget my sins. I am a sinner. Today I repent from my sins. Please come into my heart and cleanse me with your precious blood and make me a new creation. Today I receive you as my Lord and Savior. I pray in Jesus name Amen.

His Name will be called "Everlasting Father"

By Sherly Isaac

Isaiah 9:6, "For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

Just as our earthly parents wish for a bright future for their children, God who created us also wants to see us having a blessed future. Those who are born in His family enjoy many privileges. Bible says in John 1:12-13,"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."

Once a person was working in a foreign land. He admitted his son in a hostel so that he could stay there and study well. Whenever his son asked for money, he sent it no matter how much he had to starve for that or had to work overtime. Father worked very hard to meet the expenses of his son's tuition fees and other needs. He lost his health but still he worked very hard to see his son's best future. Days and months passed by and the father thought that his son was studying well. One day he went to meet him in his hostel. His son was not in his room. While waiting for his son, he saw wine bottle. He was heart broken. He thought, "I am working so hard, day and night to see a bright future for my son and he is wasting all the money in wrong things"

God came down in this world to see our blessed future. He came in this world to give us hope not only for this world but also for eternal life. But many rejected Him as we read in John 1:11, "He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him." Many behaved badly and killed Him, but for those who accepted Him, He gave the right to become children of God. To them He gave eternal life. He took care of them and blessed their lives.

When Jesus was about to leave this world, He said to His disciples in John 14:1-3, "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."

He promised eternal home for those who believe on Him. Are you worried today? Are you thinking that there is no future for you? Are you worried about your children's future? Give your life and your children's life in the hands of Jesus. He will take care of your future. Bible says in Psa 68:5, "A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, Is God in His holy habitation."

Hand over your worries of future in the mighty hands of God who is the everlasting father and enjoy perfect peace that comes from Him alone.
