Once an elephant was walking on the street with all his majesty. One little ant was sitting on his ear enjoying every moment of the ride. While walking elephant reached near a small creek. There was a small bridge to cross over it. Elephant stopped for a moment and looked down so did the little ant. When the little ant saw bridge and running water underneath, her heart failed. She cried out, oh, what we are going to do now... there is water.. we will be drowned in it. The little ant was in real despair and in panic she was screaming but elephant had no effect of her screams.

When elephant took his right leg and put it on the small bridge, because of the weight the whole bridge swung to the right side. Little ant closed her eyes so that she may not see her destruction. Then elephant put his left leg on the small bridge and it swung to the left side. Now when the little ant saw that they were not drowning, she opened her eyes and started cheering elephant saying, "go elephant go... we can make it to the other side... we can make it.." As elephant walked ant's shouting and cheering was increased with each and every step. Finally the moment came when elephant came out of the bridge safely with ant sitting on his ear now shouting with joy, "We did it... we did it." The little ant was jumping up and down, dancing and rejoicing and shouting, "Hey, we did it... we did it.."

This is just a story but you can see how happy that little ant was though she did not provide any help in crossing the bridge. At times we come to the point when our hearts fail because of terrible problems, heartbreaks, death in the family, losing job, financial crisis etc. There are many who are struggling with their addictions and bad habits and unable to come out of it. There are people who have lost their hopes. It is true that at times we human being fail to do things even with our best ability, best technology and best modern equipments. But there is a God who can help us in our inabilities, in our most desperate needs. Though our hearts fail like little ant but He stands firm like a mighty elephant to help us to cross bridges of our lives. God promised in Isa 43:2, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you." If you keep your trust in the God of Israel He will not allow you to be drowned in the river nor will allow you to be burned or scorched with fire. With His help you can make it.

There is a hardware store called "the home depot" in America. They conduct free classes to show how anybody who does not have any knowledge of home remodeling can remodel their homes. Their slogan says, "You can do it, we can help."

Yes, you can come out of your sins, addictions and your problems, God can help. It may not be possible with your own ability but God can help you to overcome it through His mighty power. Jesus said in John 16:33 "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." Give your life in the hands of Jesus. He will change you and your situation.

Witchcraft is deadly

By Vinod Isaac

1 Ki 16:33 And Ahab made a wooden image. Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel who were before him.
1 Ki 16:34 In his days Hiel of Bethel built Jericho. He laid its foundation with Abiram his firstborn, and with his youngest son Segub he set up its gates, according to the word of the LORD, which He had spoken through Joshua the son of Nun.

Yesterday morning I was sitting in the hospital, as my dad is still in the hospital, and was reading 1 Kings 16. I was reading about Ahab who is known as the most wicked king in the history of Israel.

He did every single thing that was against the will of God. First he married a wrong woman named Jezebel. If you read in the Bible you find that this woman was fully into witchcraft and worshiping foreign gods. She killed the real prophets and instead was feeding four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal, and the four hundred prophets of Asherah. These evil prophets ate at the table of Jezebel.

Then he created worship places for a god named Baal. He made people of Israel to worship this false god.

During his reign Hiel built the city of Jericho. God had said about Jericho through Joshua that whoever rises up and builds Jericho will lay its foundation with his firstborn and when he will set up gates his youngest will die. That is exactly what happened when Hiel laid the foundation his firstborn Abiram died and when he set up the gates his youngest son Segub died.

Josh 6:26 Then Joshua charged them at that time, saying, "Cursed be the man before the LORD who rises up and builds this city Jericho; he shall lay its foundation with his firstborn, and with his youngest he shall set up its gates."

Now think about it Joshua’s timeline is 14th century BC and Ahab’s time line is about 850 BC and for a prophecy to come to pass nearly 600 years later is remarkable. More than that let me try to walk you through why God is so determined about Jericho. Why should a city’s rebuilding annoy God so much?

If we read Joshua 6:18 we find that Joshua is giving specific instructions to Israelites before they captured Jericho. Instruction is “by all means abstain from the accursed things”.

Josh 6:18 "And you, by all means abstain from the accursed things, lest you become accursed when you take of the accursed things, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.

Now question is what did Joshua mean by accursed things? If we read in Deu 7:25-26 we find that anything dedicated to a foreign god or to an evil spirit was considered as an accursed thing. It was not only considered as accursed thing but it was also considered as an abomination.

Deu 7:25 "You shall burn the carved images of their gods with fire; you shall not covet the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it for yourselves, lest you be snared by it; for it is an abomination to the LORD your God.
Deu 7:26 "Nor shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be doomed to destruction like it. You shall utterly detest it and utterly abhor it, for it is an accursed thing.

When people do witchcraft, they call upon the evil spirits to put a curse upon another person. And that is exactly what Deu 7:25-26 is talking about that it is accursed and it is abomination in the sight of the Lord.

Problem with Jericho was that it was full of accursed things and that’s the exact reason why God was so determined to destroy it fully. And that is the exact reason for God to be so annoyed even after 600 years.

When Jericho was captured they destroyed every thing and burned the city with fire.

Josh 6:21 And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, ox and sheep and donkey, with the edge of the sword.
Josh 6:24 But they burned the city and all that was in it with fire. Only the silver and gold, and the vessels of bronze and iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD.

But Achan the son of Carmi kept some of the accursed things for himself. Israelites didn’t know anything about it and when they went to fight with Ai they faced defeat and about 60 men died. It was then Joshua tried to find out what went wrong. God spoke to him that there is accursed thing in the camp of Israel that’s the reason. Keeping of those accursed things burned the anger of the Lord against Israelites.

Josh 7:1 But the children of Israel committed a trespass regarding the accursed things, for Achan the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed things; so the anger of the LORD burned against the children of Israel.

People of Jericho who did witchcraft were destroyed and Achan who took the things that were accursed faced destruction as well. 600 years later Hiel paid the price just because he tried to build the accursed city of Jericho.

Have you been playing with witchcraft so far? I will say it is better to turn away from it before it is too late. Look to Jesus and turn to Him and He will bring you out. Tell Him that you are sorry for what you have been doing and ask for His forgiveness. He will surely forgive and bring you out of all evil influences. If you repent of your sins, He will have mercy on you and will bestow His grace.

If it was Witchcraft...

By Sherly Isaac

On the 3rd October my dad who was rushed to ICU as he was unconscious and had shallow breathing and doctors gave us no hope. As I sat in the hospital room where my dad laid, many thoughts flashed in my mind. I thought, "If it was witchcraft that made my dad sick and if there is no hope for him to revive, isn't it, it is Your utter defeat O, Lord? How could devil win this battle? O Holy Father, How could those who did witchcraft rejoice over their victory?" The faces of witch crafters came before my eyes and I thought, "How it is possible that they have no problem, no sickness and walking with dignity in the society?" It was beyond my comprehension that why people do these type of evil things for others?

And in that family room of hospital a question hanged before our eyes, "Will God leave us in this time of trouble? The same God who was with us all these years in riches and in poverty, in sorrows and in troubles, in laughter and in tears, in good times and in bad times. He was with us when professional murderers tried to kill us and destroy our lives. The same God who protected us when three men came drunk in the church and tried to kill my brother, will He leave us this time?" All these years He never left us nor forsaken us. He was our protection and shield. He was our refuge and strength. And beyond the shadow of a doubt we knew the answer that God will not leave us in this crisis also.

David a young man walked with God and tried to please God in everything. But he went through great trials. Saul a man who was chosen by God and anointed by God became his enemy. Saul the king of Israel used all his power and might to search David and kill him. God allowed Saul for a season to do all evil things against David but He never allowed David to fall in the hands of Saul and his army. God protected David and his men from the evil hands of Saul. You can see that it is not Saul and David's fight but it was fight between God and devil. Devil will always try to block the purpose of God from fulfilling and he uses men and women to do that. But who can stand against God and win?

Look at the life of Saul, he could not win his battle against David instead he brought destruction against himself. As for as Saul it was completely tragic. For a season he played his game but a day came in his life when God stopped speaking to him. He took advice from medium (witch) and he died a miserable death. Bible says in 1 Chr 10:13, "So Saul died for his unfaithfulness which he had committed against the LORD, because he did not keep the word of the LORD, and also because he consulted a medium for guidance."

The same thing we see in the lives of Egyptians. Moses stood before Pharaoh the king of Egypt and tried to convey the message of God to him in Exo 5:1, "Thus says the LORD God of Israel: 'Let My people go, that they may hold a feast to Me in the wilderness.'" But the Pharaoh was very adamant and said in Exo 5:2, "Who is the LORD, that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the LORD, nor will I let Israel go." Further also we read this type of answers from Pharaoh. Not only that but he called all the sorcerers and magicians to block the plans of God. Oh, God allowed Pharaoh to play games for a season but a time came when God stretched forth His mighty hand and brought out Israelites from Egypt. But you can see that Pharaoh still did not learn the lessons from past. He followed the Israelites and Moses to take over them. When Moses saw the Egyptian army was following them we read in Exo 14:13, And Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever."

Pharaoh and his army destroyed themselves pursuing Israelites. When God's hand moves who can stop it? Sometimes people do things and think that they are smarter than God but they bring destruction for themselves. Witchcraft or magic cannot stand before the almighty God. God may allow for a season to have the effect of it but at the end it destroys.

Are you practicing witchcraft? Repent from your sins and turn to God before it may kill you and destroy your soul in hell. If you repent and turn from your evil ways, God will forgive you and forget all your sins. He will give you a new life as the Bible tells us in 2 Cor 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
