God portrayed Himself as Father in the Bible. In Deu 32:18 we read, “…God who fathered you.” And in Deu 32:11-12 it says, “As an eagle stirs up its nest, Hovers over its young, Spreading out its wings, taking them up, Carrying them on its wings, So the LORD alone led him, And there was no foreign god with him.”

If we entrust our lives in the mighty hands of God and if we fear Him and walk in His ways, He cares for us as a father cares for his children. Bible says in Psa 103:13, “As a father pities his children, So the LORD pities those who fear Him.” He was a father to the Israelites when they came out of Egypt. God protected them from all evil, from their enemies and from all kinds of harm. A glimpse of what they went through and how God protected them, fed them and took care of them is found in Deu 8:15-16, "who led you through that great and terrible wilderness, in which were fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water; who brought water for you out of the flinty rock; who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do you good in the end.”

Today also He is the same. He wants to protect us, bless us and prosper us in every area of our lives.

Back in India when my parents had left for USA and we three (me, my brother and sister) were alone in home, one night we had our dinner early and went to bed early. About half an hour later one of our family friends and his wife came to visit us. We were fast asleep and they woke us up. They were amazed and said, “Now it is not even 9.00 P.M. and how is it that all of you have slept this early?” We said, “yes we were tired so we thought of sleeping early. We sat and talked with them.

Later I excused myself of their company to prepare tea for them. As I entered in the kitchen, I did not know why a fear crept through my heart. I thought, “what if there is someone outside the kitchen window on jackfruit tree?” The kitchen was on the second floor and because there were bars on the window we often kept the glass panels open. I was afraid to look outside because I knew that I would only see black shadows that would frighten me more instead of easing my fear. I took milk from refrigerator and walked to the other end of kitchen to pour in a pot. When I almost reached the other side, I heard a big noise as if someone had hurriedly jumped off the tree.

I screamed and ran downstairs where all were sitting. The friends got concerned and started asking what had happened. My brother said, “Do not worry about it. She screams even if she sees a small fly.” I reached downstairs and told them what had happened. They opened the door and went outside. No one was there except some freshly broken twigs and leaves scattered on the ground. It indicated that someone had just left that place in a hurry.

Had not our friends come at that time, our home would have been burglarized and our lives could have been in danger too. God once again saved our lives from great danger. The same God who protected the Israelites from fiery serpents and scorpions protected us. The same God is ready to protect you from all evil. If you give your life in the mighty hands of Jesus, He will keep you as the apple of His eye as He did for the Israelites in Deu 32:10, "He found him in a desert land And in the wasteland, a howling wilderness; He encircled him, He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye.” And also He says, “for he who touches you touches the apple of My eye” (Zec 2:8).

Are you afraid today because enemies have surrounded you? Are you afraid today because you see mounting problems in your life. Give your life to Jesus, He will protect you and He will make a way for you.

Awesome God!

In the book of Joshua 6th chapter we read about God’s mighty work done in the lives of the Israelites. They crossed over the Jordan River and came across the fortified city of Jericho. Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out, and none came in.. But God promised to give that city in the hands of the Israelites. How would it happen, they had no idea. But the Bible says in Josh 6:2-5, “And the LORD said to Joshua: "See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor. You shall march around the city, all you men of war; you shall go all around the city once. This you shall do six days. And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark. But the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. It shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall down flat. And the people shall go up every man straight before him."

Joshua commanded the priests accordingly. Priests and the people did as God told them. We read in Josh 6:8-9, “So it was, when Joshua had spoken to the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams' horns before the LORD advanced and blew the trumpets, and the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them. The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard came after the ark, while the priests continued blowing the trumpets.”

The Israelites went around Jericho and on the seventh day the walls of Jericho fell down before them so that they could go straight inside. A great victory was won on that day in Israel. The reason for the victory was because the Ark of the Covenant went before them. The Ark of the Covenant was the place where God dwelt. The Ark of the Covenant was the place where the mighty and awesome God came and spoke with Moses. The Ark of the Covenant was the place where God’s glory filled and God’s holy presence descended in the tabernacle.

This Almighty and awesome God Himself went before them and gave them victory. If this awesome God is with you, He will give you victory, No matter how much fortified the walls could be before you, it will fall flat before you. Yes, this is the power of the wonderful and mighty God. When this awesome God is your God, He will walk before you and make you victorious.

If you have not invited this awesome God in your life and if you want this wonderful God in your life, please pray this prayer with me:

Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. Please forgive and forget all my sins and come into my life. Today, I accept you as my Lord and Savior. Wash me with your precious blood and make me your child. Walk before me and give me victory over every area of my life. Turn my failures into victory today. Thank you Lord for listening to my prayers and blessing me. I give you all the glory and honor. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
